Giorgia is a research fellow under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions postdoctoral program with the project SPEAK dedicated to investigate the convergence of intonation, syntactic, and interaction units in naturally occurring conversation.
She is interested in contact-induced language change, syntax of spoken grammar, and corpus design, with a focus on Kazakh and other languages of Central Asia. She participated to the design and construction of the Multimedia Corpus of Spoken Kazakh Language, the first ever collection of naturally occurring Kazakh conversation.
She holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2017-2023) and previously held the position of Postdoctoral Fellow in Linguistics at Nazarbayev University (2023-2025).
