He performs clinical activity at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Bologna and conducts research in the field of knee surgery, with particular focus on the treatment of complex conditions, meniscal surgery, and corrective osteotomies.

His clinical practice is mainly focused on anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, multiligament knee injuries, meniscal surgery, lower limb malalignment (varus and valgus knee), complex knee surgery and sports-related injuries, as well as primary knee arthroplasty and revision knee surgery.

Education

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery with honors from the University of Bologna.

During medical school, he completed a 3-month training period at New York University (NYU), focusing on human anatomy and cadaveric dissection (final evaluation according to U.S. standards: grade A).

He ranked first nationwide in the Italian residency entrance examination for Orthopaedics and Traumatology among over 15,000 candidates.

He trained clinically and academically at the Orthopaedic Clinic II of the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute under the supervision of Prof. Stefano Zaffagnini.

International Experience

He completed international training at two leading centers:

UPMC Sports Medicine – Pittsburgh, PA (USA) – 12 months
Under the supervision of Prof. Volker Musahl and Prof. Freddie Fu, he was involved in clinical and research activities in knee surgery, with a focus on anterior and posterior cruciate ligament surgery, meniscal injuries and transplantation, multiligament knee injuries, tibial and femoral osteotomies (correction of varus/valgus alignment), robotic-assisted surgery, and treatment of professional and high-demand athletes.

Helios ENDO-Klinik – Hamburg (Germany) – 6 months
A leading European center for joint replacement and revision surgery, with focus on primary knee and hip arthroplasty, complex revision arthroplasty, management of periprosthetic infections, and treatment of complex joint reconstruction cases.
