Exploiting geothermal potential from tunnel infrastructures: the legacy of Swiftly Green Project

SWIFTLY Green aimed to develop a toolbox for green corridors. The toolbox consists of guidelines, tools and recommendations for greening of logistics and transport. It is based on best practice and transferable results from a thorough mapping and analysis of previous and on-going projects.

In such framework, the pecularities of the Brenner Basis Tunnel (BBT) under construction, to provide a fast railway transport connecting Italy to Central and Northern Europe, have been deeply analysed, with specific reference to the geothermal energy exploitation potential.
