Curriculum vitae

PhD candidate at the University of Bologna, she conducts research in the field of molecular and cellular biology, with a particular focus on genome editing technologies applied to the study of muscular diseases. Her research interests are centered on the development of innovative CRISPR/Cas9- and base editing–based strategies for gene expression modulation and the treatment of genetic disorders.

Education

She obtained her Master’s degree in Medical Biotechnologies from the University of Padova in 2024 with full marks and honors. Previously, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Bologna in 2022, also with full marks and honors.

Academic career and research activity

Since November 2025, she has been a PhD candidate at the FABIT Department of the University of Bologna, where she is developing a research project focused on genome editing in muscular diseases.

In 2025, she was awarded a post-graduate research fellowship at the University of Bologna, where she worked on neuroblastoma cell models and gained advanced expertise in cell culture and molecular biology techniques, including CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, co-immunoprecipitation, proximity-dependent biotinylation (BioID), chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), quantitative PCR (qPCR), Western blotting, flow cytometry, and RNA interference.

During her Master’s thesis internship at the University of Padova, she focused on genome editing technologies, including sgRNA design and cloning, maintenance and transfection of HEK cells and human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), clonal selection, and differentiation into cardiomyocytes. She also performed gene and protein expression analyses.

Earlier, during her Bachelor’s thesis internship at the University of Bologna, she worked with mouse models, gaining experience in behavioral testing, genotyping, tissue sectioning, and immunohistochemistry combined with confocal microscopy.

Scientific activity

Her research activity focuses on the application of advanced genome editing technologies to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying genetic diseases, with particular emphasis on muscular disorders and stem cell–derived cellular models.
