Associate Professor at the University of Bologna since 2005, he conducts research in theoretical physics. His main interests lie in the study of fundamental interactions and, in particular, in the study of quantum field theory, particles in first quantization, string theory, supersymmetry, quantum gravity.

Teaching Activity
Since 2005 he is teaching regularly courses for the Bachelor Degree, Master Degree and PhD Program of the Physics and Astronomy Department (DIFA). He is also a tutor of the Collegio Superiore.
Research Activity
He is the author of over 60 publications in scientific journals of theoretical physics and co-author, with P. van Nieuwenhuizen, of the book "Path Integrals and Anomalies in Curved Space" (Cambridge University Press, 2006). He has been visiting various institutions, including CERN, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), Simons Center for Geometry and Physics at Stony Brook University (SCGP), Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute).
He has participated in various national and international research programs, including PRIN 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2007, 2009 and EU research programs (ERBCHBGCT930407 and EUCLID HPRN-CT-2002-00325).
He has been the local coordinator of the INFN Research Network PI14 ("Nonperturbative Dynamics in Gauge and String Theories") (2009-13). From 2014 he is the local coordinator of the INFN Research Network GAST ("Gauge and String Theories").
Institutional Duties
He has been member of the Executive Board of the Department of Physics, University of Bologna (2009-12), member of the Executive Board of DIFA (2012-15) and member of the DIFA Research Committee (2012-15).
