I was born and studied in Bologna, obtaining the degree in General Physics in 1986. I worked as a fellow and contract researcher at FISBAT-CNR (now ISAC-CNR), and in 1999 I got a researcher position at the Department of Physics of the University of Ferrara. I finally moved to the University of Bologna in 2015, where I am Associate Professor in the Physics of the Atmosphere Group.
My research interests are focused on the microphysical processes in the atmosphere involving aerosols, clouds and precipitation, and on their observations through remote sensors. Applications are mainly devoted to agrometeorology, hydrology, climate and the prevention of hydrogeological risks.
I teach at the Bachelor's Degree in Physics and the Master's Degree in Physics of the Earth System, as well as in PhD and Master Courses. I have supervised more than 50 degree and 10 PhD theses, and I have published more than 60 papers in international journals.
