Evangeline Scarpulla holds a BA in Comparative Literature from King's College London (2021) and an MSc in Comparative Literature from the University of Edinburgh (2022). She is currently a research fellow (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions - Doctoral Network (MSCA DN) Ref. EP/X02556X/1) and PhD scholar in Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures - Diversity and Inclusion, EDGES curriculum (XXXIX cycle) at the University of Bologna.
Evangeline's research interests include speculative fiction, genre criticism, feminist literary theory, young adult fiction, postcolonial studies, and decolonizing the canon. Under the supervision of her primary supervisor Prof.ssa Gilberta Golinelli (UniBo) and her mobility supervisors Dr. Nicoletta Asciuto and Dr. Boriana Alexandrova (University of York), her PhD thesis investigates the use and impact of genre-play in 21st-century transnational speculative fiction by women-identifying authors in Europe, emphasising, in particular, its (trans)formative and worlding potentials.
