PhD student in Translation, Interpreting and Intercultural studies, 35° cycle.
My PhD work is on apology-like behaviours in Japanese computer-mediated discourse. I'm particularly interested in the polyfunctional nature of Japanese apologies and how speakers exploit social norms to convey (im)politeness.
Other research interests include metapragmatics, cross-cultural pragmatics, corpus-assisted discourse studies and multimodality.
Tutors: Prof. Alan Partington; Prof. Motoko Ueyama.
