Keywords: Antimicrobial resistance veterinary bacteriology wildlife one health bioindicators environmental surveillance commensal bacteria MALDI-TOF

My research activities focus on Veterinary Bacteriology with applications in microbiological diagnostics and molecular diagnostics. In particular, my research interests include:

  • Antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
  • Integrated One Health approach to the topic of AMR, through the study of the interconnection between humans-animals-environment
  • Wildlife and its role as a Bioindicator of AMR in the environment
  • Applications of MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry in routine bacteriological diagnostics
  • Development of MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry for the rapid detection of major resistance profiles in clinically relevant veterinary pathogens
  • Bacterial infections in small animals and their zoonotic potential
