After receiving his PhD in Materials Engineering in 2011, Dr. Sassoni worked as a post-doc at the University of Bologna from 2011 to 2015, when he was granted a 3-year Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship ("HAP4MARBLE" project, grant amount 244'000 €). Within HAP4MARBLE, Dr. Sassoni spent 18 months at Princeton University (USA), 6 months at the University of Göttingen (Germany) and 12 months at the University of Bologna (Italy). Since March 2019 he is Assistant Professor (with tenure track) at the University of Bologna. Since 2017 he holds the "Italian national qualification as Associate Professor" in Materials Science and Technology.
His research activity mainly focuses on innovative materials and methods for the conservation of historic building materials and on innovative sustainable materials for the building sector.
He is author and co-author of 78 scientific publications: 43 journal articles, 1 book chapter and 34 conference proceedings. The impact of Dr. Sassoni's publications indexed in Scopus (48 up to March 2019) is documented by a total of 780 citations and h-index=19.
