Enrico Sassoni is Associate Professor of Materials Engineering at the University of Bologna (Italy), with national qualification as a Full Professor. He has spent visiting periods at Princeton University (USA, 2015-2017), Göttingen University (Germany, 2017) and the University of New South Wales (Australia, 2024). He was awarded a H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (“HAP4MARBLE”, 2015-2018) and has been Principal Investigator of projects funded by the Italian Government (“SECURE-COATS”, 2023-2026) and industry (Saint Gobain Research). He has (co)authored +90 pubblications in Scopus (+3200 citations, h-index=33). He has given invited lectures and served as member of the scientific committee of numerous international conferences. He has also served as reviewer of project proposals for several international agencies. He has been Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Materials and Structures” and is currently Associate Editor of "Journal of Cultural Heritage", "Frontiers in Materials" and "RILEM Technical Letters". In 2017, he was awarded a "Gustavo Colonnetti Medal" by RILEM and in 2024 was nominated a RILEM Fellow.
