Scientific activities
Research activities of Prof. Emanuela Marcelli are currently mainly focused on on 3D technologies for pre-operative planning, personalized implants, intraoperative guidance and medical education, moreover on artificial organs, medical devices and implantable sensors for cardiac applications. .
Main research topics:
- Patient-specific 3D modelling and printing for pre-operative planning and design of personalized implants;
- Simulation, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies applied to medicine;
- Sensorized prosthetic heart valves;
- Implantable sensors for cardiac function monitoring;
- Technologies for simulation in medical education;
- Industrial Bioengineering applications in complex health systems.
