Elena Cofini is a PhD candidate at the Univeristy of Bologna, in the FRONTIERS PhD programme - "Future Earth, Climate Change and Societal Challanges" (XXXVIII cycle).
Her project, titled "New Strategies for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage under Climate Change conditions", is carried out under the supervision of Professor Cristina Chiavari and Professor Elena Bernardi. It will focus on the study of degradation mechanisms, fostered by climate change, involving bronze, stone and glass artefacts, through the implementation of updated artificial ageing protocols.
She received her degree in Science and Technology for Conservation of Cultural Heritage at Sapienza University in Rome, and she is enrolled in the national professional register of conservation scientists. Prior to the PhD, she worked in various museum institutions such as the Vatican Museums, the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum, and the Getty Conservation Institute.
