Description:
I visited NJIT to perform research during the period 05/24/2018 – 08/20/2018. The department of the Computer Science Department at NJIT, part of the Ying Wu College of Computing, is the largest at NJIT, comprising of one tenth of the student population. It is also the largest Computer Science department among all research universities in the New York metropolitan area. During this period I worked in the area of distributed computing in the cloud. Moreover, I proposed an extension of the existing project called Avatar (https://web.njit.edu/~borcea/avatar/) for working at the edge of the network, using fog computing. Specifically, I collaborated with other Ph.D. students to develop a system for enabling mobile devices to have low-latency access to data and files in a three-tier architecture: mobile- fog-cloud.
