Born in Naples November 15th 1955

1980 Medical l degree with highest honors at the University of Chieti.

1981 Post-degree clinical training at the Institute of Psychiatry of Bologna University, with the rating “excellent”.

1985 Specialization in Psychiatry at Bologna University, with a score of 70/70.

1984-85 Research contract at Psychiatric Institute of Bologna University

1989-93 Research Assistant at Psychiatric Institute of Bologna University

1993-01 Associated  Professor of Psychiatry at Psychiatric Institute of Bologna University, confirmed in 1996.

1996-1998 Temporary consultant WHO Mental Health Division

1999 Visiting Professor at Maudsley Hospital Department of Psychiatry London, from the 18th January to the 19th February, invited by Prof. David Goldberg.

2001 > Full Professor of Psychiatry at Psychiatric Institute of Bologna University

2004-2007 Clinical Dean of Bologna Medical School

Teaching

Since 1993 prof. Berardi has been teaching in the Medical School of Bologna University as a Professor of Psychiatry. He is chairman of the Psychiatry course and of a number of related  “eligible courses”, including: Psychopharmacology course, Medical Communication course and Substance abuse and mental health course.

At the Bologna Medical School he was in charge as semester Coordinator for the period 2001-2004. In the period 2004-2007 he used to be Clinical Dean of Bologna Medical School and member of the Clinical Dean of Medical Schools' National College.

For the academic year 2002-2003, professor of Psychiatry at the School of Professional Education (certifying the profession of Professional Educators), coordinated by the Medical School and the Education Sciences School.

Since the academic year 2014-2015 he is professor of Psychiatry at the Psychological Sciences and Techinques school.

For the academic year 2014-2015, professor of Psychopathology of Emotional Disorders at the Applied Cognitive Psychology school.

Since 2013 he is Director of the Psychiatry Specialization.

He also teaches in Work Medicine Specialization, Endocrinology Specialization and Orthopedics Specialization of the Bologna University.

He also teaches in different PhD and Master courses

He is also member of the Bologna University Quality Assessment Group.

Clinical Activities

He is leading West Bologna Community Mental Health Centres with a catchment area of more than 200.000 inhabitants.
