Research Projects

Development of applications for research funding in the field of Low Carbon Energy since 2012. Experienced in the management of EC projects, with an extensive network of key partners across Europe. Selected, recent projects are given below.

"BD4NRG: Big Data for Next Generation Energy" (BD4NRG). EU-funding framework H2020. Status: Ongoing. Personal contribution: Pilot development, project and technical management on behalf of the partner UNIWA.

"Development of a Smart Platform for the Holistic Management of the Water & Energy Nexus in Island Regions" (DarWEN). Application submitted under the Research-Create-Innovate Framework of NSRF. Status: Ongoing. Personal contribution: Proposal Writing, Consortium Development, Project Management, on behalf of the Coordinator, UNIWA.

"Technology Innovation for the Local Scale Optimum Integration of Battery Energy Storage" (TILOS). Application submitted under the EU-funding framework H2020 (LCE-8 call).Status: Completed. Personal contribution: Proposal Writing, Consortium Development, Project Management, on behalf of the Coordinator, UNIWA.

Freelance Energy Engineer – Consultant (2015-…)

Freelance, Chartered Energy Engineer, providing Consulting services and contributing as research member in energy-related R&D projects. Selected projects are given below:

Consulting

Energy Studies submitted to the Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) for the issuance of Production Licenses of Hybrid Power Stations (RES and Storage) for Greek private actors and/or for the development of pilot projects (non-interconnected islands).

Contribution to the development of a Technical Report on Energy Poverty for the EC Joint Research Centre –“Methodologies for assessing and mitigating energy poverty at the residential level in Greece”.

Study for the techno-economic evaluation of alternatives to the development of a new lignite power station in the Greek National Grid (Ptolemaida V) for WWF Greece. The study focused on the examination of combined RES-pumped hydro storage solutions.

Teaching Experience (2015-…)

Associate Lecturer-Mechanical Engineering Department of UNIWA and former TEIP / Lectures in Long-life Education seminars in the field of Energy Storage and Hybrid Energy Systems.
