Diana Planida is a PhD candidate in Political and Social Sciences at the University of Bologna, pursuing a double degree with Radboud University Nijmegen (Netherlands), funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research. Her doctoral research investigates the ideological construction and global dissemination of “traditional values” in post-socialist Russia, with particular attention to their implications for gender and LGBTQ+ politics.
She holds an MA in Politics, Philosophy, and Public Affairs from the University of Milan, awarded cum laude for a thesis on the visual mediation of the 2020–2021 Belarusian protest movement, rooted in her personal engagement in grassroots mobilization.
Her broader academic interests include critical theory, social movement studies, visual and cultural sociology, psychoanalytic theory, and the politics of popular culture.
