Short Bio

My name is Debora Barnabè and I am currently a PhD Candidate in Women's and Gender Studies (EDGES) at the University of Bologna (Italy). My research interests include women’s and gender studies and English Literature, especially the rediscovery of Catholic women’s voices in Early-Modern England. My PhD thesis will focus on the contemplative writings and mysticism of two female members of Our Lady of Consolation, an English Benedictine monastery in Cambrai (France), namely Helen More, in religion Gertrude, (1606 – 1633) and Barbara Constable (1617 – 1684), analysed from a feminist critical perspective.
