Davide Tabarelli is president and cofounder of Nomisma Energia, an independent think tank based in Bologna doing research in the energy sector. He has a degree in economics with a thesis on the international energy markets. After a short period of lectureship at the university, he started his career in Nomisma in 1986. Ever since then he spent all his activity as consultant for the Italian and the international energy sector, covering all main issues of the industry. He has been assistant of the minister of Industry in 1995 and was responsible for the assistance to the minister of Environment for policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gases emissions. Among the different projects conducted, several dealt with energy prices to final consumers and energy efficiency. From 2017 to 2020 he was member of the advisory board of ENI for the Energy Transition. He has constantly followed all energy policies aimed at reducing pollution, from incentives to renewable energy sources to energy efficiency. He was responsible for over 70 projects commissioned by domestic and international energy companies. He is visiting professor in energy economics at the Politecnico of Milan and University of Bologna. He is editorialist for energy issues on Sole 24 Ore.
