I conduct my research in the field of History and Institutions of Africa (GSPS-04/C). I focus on Africa in the history of international relations and on international development policy. I have carried out fieldwork in Ethiopia (since 2006), Kenya (2012), Malawi (2014–2015), and South Africa (since 2016). Methodologically, I integrate historical research with qualitative and ethnographic analysis of specific case studies.
Key themes include state- and nation-building; agrarian politics; social movements; industrial and labour policy; science–technology–innovation infrastructures, with particular attention to the space sector; and the energy transition and climate adaptation.
