Daniele Palma holds a PhD in History of Performing Arts (University of Florence) and MA degrees in Musicology (University of Pavia) and Organ (Monopoli Conservatory). His research concerns mainly operatic vocality in the 19th and 20th centuries, early sound media, cultural imaginaries of opera, and amateur music practices, from children records to mental patients in asylums. He has published articles in scholarly journals and book chapters. He took part in "Come suona la Toscana", an ethnomusicological research project led by Maurizio Agamennone, devoted to sonic practices of oral tradition in Tuscany. In 2019, he has been awarded an Edison Fellowship by the British Library. He is co-editor of Sounds of the Pandemic (Routledge, forthcoming 2022), and member of the editorial board of «Acusfere». Currently, he is a post-doc research fellow at the University of Bologna, with a project devoted to the performance practices of Verdi's operas as witnessed by 19th-century music periodicals.
