Short Bio

Associate Professor at the University of Bologna (UNIBO), works in environmental and green chemistry. His research focuses on assessing the sustainability of chemical processes, industrial systems, and laboratory reactions using life cycle thinking approaches, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Social LCA (S-LCA), and the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework. He spent five years in the sustainability consultancy sector as team leader. He earned his PhD in 2015 at UNIBO and was Visiting Assistant in Research at Yale University in Prof. Paul Anastas’ group. He received the Empowering Research Award from Philip Morris International (2015) and the “Mario Molina” Medal from the Italian Chemical Society (2022). He has authored 53 peer-reviewed publications and four book chapters, serves as reviewer for the Italian Ministry, European Research Executive Agency, UN Environment and many international journals. Since 2025 is Advisory Board Member of the journal Green Chemistry and invited member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
