Researcher since January 2023, Daniele Alberoni carries out his research in the field of environmental microbiology. The research interest is focused on the gutmicrobial ecology of Apoidea (Apis mellifera, Osmia spp., Xylocopa spp.,
Megachile spp. and other solitary pollinators of Europe and South America), but also on the microbial interactions between soil - plant - insects pollinators, specifically:
- Impact of food additives, also based on microorganisms on pollinators.
- Impact of xenobiotics and antibiotics on the intestinal microbiota of pollinating insects and on soil.
- Pathogenic microorganisms (in particular microsporidia).
- Microbial population dynamics following perturbations of anthropic origin and/or due to climate change.
- The microbiota of the sunflower root system
- Gene expression test on SWEET genes responsible for nectar secretion in plants, in relation to rhizospheric and endophytic microbiota activity.
The main methods of analysis are based on NGS and qPCR.
He is currently engaged in national and international research projects, collaborating with European institutes.
