She is currently the coordinator of the PhD programme in Political and Social Sciences at the University of Bologna (since 2016)

Education

After a degree in Philosophy (University of di Genoa) she got a PhD in Political Science at the University of Florence (1988). She undertook several courses in social sciences methods at the Summer School of the Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (1999-2001).

Career

She was appointed as a researcher at the University of Bologna in 1999. In 2004 she became Associate Professor. She is full professor in Political Science since 2009. Previously she has been Research Fellow at the Department of Political Science, Trinity College, Dublin (1998-1999)

Academic service

She served as Chair of the Department of Political Science 2009- 2012) and Chair of the School of Political Sciences in the University of Bologna (2012 - 2015).

She has been Director of a number of teaching programmes in the previous years.

She has been member of the academic committee of the PHd Programme, University of Milan, from 2014 to 2016.

Teaching

Since 2003 she  has been teaching courses in  Political Science at the undergraduate and graduate level at the University of Bologna.

She lectured in the PhD programme at the University of Milan.

She taught a short course in the Master in Relazioni Internazionali Europa-America Latina, University of Bologna from 2001 to 2017.

She coordinated the seminar  series of the Dipartimento di Scienza Politica University of Bologna for a number of years (2000-2010)

Research

She is currently participating in  the project Democracy Under Pressure http://demope.it [http://demope.it/], principal investogator Andrea Ceron, University of Milan. She joined the project The Politics of Legislative Debates, coordinated by Hanna Back Lund University, Jorge Miguel Fernandes University of Lisbon and Marc Debus University of Mannheim. She joined several national research programmes (PRIN 2015 2008, 2010). She coordinated the international research programme “New forms of democracy? Change and Reform of Democratic Institutions”, Dipartimento di Scienza Politica, Università di Bologna and Center for the Study of Democracy, University of California Irvine (2006-2010). She has been Visiting Professor at the Department of Public Policy, UCLA ( Ott./ Dic 2006; Nov. 2007) and at the University of California Irvine (2005). She has been Visiting Scholar at the Department of Political Science, Trinity Collge Dublin (1998-1999),  at the Center in Political Economy, Washington University, St. Louis. MO ( 1997) and at the Department of Political Science, University of Rochester NY(1996).

She presented her research at the annual conferences of the Società Italiana di Scienza Politica, American Political Science Association, European Consortium for Political Research, European Political Science Association, and at other international workshops at the University of Lille, Science Po CEVIPOF Paris, College de France Paris, Trinity College Dublin, Washington University in St. Louis, Tel Aviv Universit, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, University of Mannheim  and the University of Tokio.

In 2009 and 2011 she has been co-director of workshop at the ECPR joint session of workshops.

She authored a book ad edited two volumes. Her work has appeared in edited volumes and in journals such as British Journal of Political Science, Electoral Studies, European Journal of Political Research, European Political Science Review, Government and Opposition, Legislative Studies Quaterly, Journal of Theoretical Politics, Rivista Italiana di Scienza Politica, Rivista Italiana di Politiche Pubbliche, South European Politics and Society.
