Pyrolysis of polyethyleneimines utilised in the capture of CO2
Polyethyleneimines (PEI) are aliphatic polyamines with several applications in many fields, including paper production, water and air purification, cosmetic manufacturing, biomedicine and biotechnology. Recently PEI are investigated as a polymeric amine for CO2 capture in the so called CCSU. PEI are subjected to processes of degradation and oxidation. It is important to increase our knowledge on the chemical nature and yield of pyrolysis products of PEI and their mechanism of formation. To this purpose it is important to develop chromatographic and spectroscopic methods for the analysis of pyrolysis products of PEI. The thesis is connected to an important international project on CCUS.
