Education and training Claudio Franceschi was Born on May 16, 1946 in Frosinone, Italy. 

1961-1964 Predoctoral fellowship from the University of Bologna;

1967 "Lepetit" prize for one of the best M.D. thesis;

1968-1969 Postdoctoral fellowship from the Minister of Education;

1970 Fellowship from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the Tumor Biology Dept.,

Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, directed by Dr. George Klein;

1971 "G. Petragnani" prize from the "Istituto Sieroterapico SCLAVO", for an italian young immunologist;

1969-1981 Assistant Professor of General Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Bologna

From February 2002 to 2006: Director of the Interdepartmental Centre “L. Galvani” of the University of Bologna for studies on Bioinformatics, Biophysics and

Biocomplexity. About 40 scientists from the Departments of Physics, Informatics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Experimental Pathology,

Evolutionary Biology and Veterinary Science participate to the Centre.

2004 - 2009 Coordinator of the European Project "GeHA" Genetics of Healthy Aging, FP6.
