Carlo Tovo

Born in 1987, he holds a Master’s degree in Law (with first-class honours) from the University of Bologna (2011), a double PhD degree in European Law and Public Law from the Universities of Bologna and Strasbourg (2015), and the Italian National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor of European Union Law (as of 10 May 2021).

He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in EU Law at the University of Bologna (2015-2018), a Visiting Researcher at the Universities of Strasbourg (2014), Maastricht (2015) and Paris-Panthéon-Assas (2018), and has taught EU Law as an Adjunct Professor in France, Italy, and China (2015-2023).

He worked as a Local Parliamentary Assistant to a Member of the European Parliament (2010-2014) and he served at the Court of Justice of the European Union, first as a Legal Administrator (2018-2019) and subsequently as a Legal Secretary (référendaire) (2020-2024).

Since October 2024, he has been a tenure-track researcher in European Union Law at the University of Bologna.
