The research activity is mainly devoted to Internet of Things (IoT) and Wireless Sensor
Networks (WSNs). Main topics investigated are Medium Access Control
(MAC) protocols and routing. Specific applications of interest are Industry 4.0, smart cities and smart buildings. Recent research has been devoted to the optimization of paths for UAVs gathering data generated by cellular users and IoT devices deployed in a city environment. As far as the Industry 4.0 is concerned, the research has been devoted to the design of novel MAC and routing protocols for LoRa at 2.4 GHz to be applied to monitoring industrial application. Future research will be devoted to the application of Thz communications to Industrial IoT.
