Curriculum vitae

Short biography

Barbara Mavi' Masini received the Laurea degree (with honors) and the Ph.D. degree in telecommunications engineering from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2001 and 2005, respectively.

In 2002, she joined the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering "Guglielmo Marconi" - DEI at the University of Bologna, to develop his research activity in the area of wireless communications.

Since 2005, she is a researcher at the Institute for Electronics and for Information and Telecommunications Engineering (IEIIT), Research Unit of Bologna, of the National Research Council (CNR) working on wireless transmission techniques. Since 2006 she is also adjunct Professor at the University of Bologna where she holds the course of Telecommunication Systems.

Research

The research activity is performed within WiLAB (Wireless Communication Laboratory) in Bologna. WiLAB includes researchers and resources from DEI, IEIIT, and CNIT.

Her research interests are mainly focused on vehicular networks, facing several issues, from physical and MAC aspects up to real field trial implementations. Special attention has been paid to vehicular sensor networks for urban sensing, environment monitoring, and cellular network offloading.

Research is also focused on physical layer aspects of cooperative networks and energy harvesting.

She is involved in several national and international projects dealing with smart mobility in smart cities.

Dr. Masini is a member of the IEEE Communication and Vehicular Technology Societies and acts as Reviewer and technical program committee (TPC) for several IEEE journals and conferences.

Teaching

Since the academic year 2006/2007 she is Adjunt Professor at the University of Bologna. In particular, since 2006, she is Adjunt Professor for the course of Telecommunication Systems - T1 for Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering.
