Short Bio

Full professor, teaches “Hydraulic Infrastructures”, “Hydrological Modelling” and “Flood and Drought Risk Management” to undergraduate and graduate students of the School of Engineering and Architecture (University of Bologna) and Hydrology and Flood Risk to graduate students in Geology. He collaborates with UNESCO-IHE (NL), USGS (US), TUW (AT), GFZ (DE) and Tufts University (US) within their training and scientific research programmes. Local coordinator and WP1 chair of SYSTEM-RISK “A Large-Scale Systems Approach to Flood Risk Assessment and Management” a EU funded training network (call H2020-MSCA-ITN-2015). Author and co-author of more than 60 papers indexed on Web Of Sciences. Editor in Chief of Hydrological Sciences Journal (IAHS), Associate Editor of Water Resources Research (AGU). Research interests include: flood hazard and risk assessment, 1D and 2D hydrodynamic modelling, regional frequency analysis of extreme hydrological events, hydrological predictions in ungauged basins, anthropogenic effects on hydrological processes.
