Short Bio

Full professor, teaches hydrology, water resources planning and management and flood-risk assessment and mitigation in various courses to undergraduate and graduate students of the School of Engineering and Architecture (University of Bologna) and Hydrology and Flood Risk to graduate students in Geology. He collaborates with USGS (US), TUW (AT), GFZ (DE) and Tufts University (US) within their training and scientific research programmes. Local coordinator or principal investigator in several national and international research projects (e.g., Life CLIMAX-PO,Climate-KIC EIT SaferPlaces, System-Risk ETN). Author and co-author of several papers indexed on Scopus and Web Of Sciences. Editor in Chief of Hydrological Sciences Journal (IAHS). Research interests include: flood hazard and risk, modelling, assessment, and mitigation, 1D and 2D hydrodynamic modelling, regional frequency analysis of extreme hydrological events, hydrological predictions in ungauged basins, anthropogenic and climatic effects on hydrological processes.
