Professor Pappous, a dual Greek-British citizen is spesialised in Sport Management with a special interest in Olympic Studies, inclusion and diversity, and in the psycho-social aspects of physical activity participation.
He is the Head of the local organising committee of the EASM 2027 international congress that will take place in Rinini. And also the Director of the new Masters degree in Sustainable sport management.
He is active in working as consultant in various major global sporting events, Summer and Winter Olympics, and Paralympic Games. Sakis still holds an ongoing position as an Honorary Academic at Kent where he has been a former Head of Scholl and Director of Graduate Studies. As of 2026 he serves as a Visiting Lecturer at the International Olympic Academy in ancient Olimpia in Greece.
Over 20 years, Prof. Pappous has secured prestigious funding (British Academy, Horizon Europe, Newton Fund, IOC, ESRC, Marie Curie, PRIN-PNRR). Passionate about societal impact, he led two UK REF impact case studies. Formerly an elite fencer for the Greek national team, Sakis embraces empathy and perspective-taking, enjoying mindfulness and swimming in his free time.
