Athanasios Pappous

Professor Pappous, a dual British-Greek citizen is spesialised in Sport Event Event Management with a special interest in the social legacies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. He is active in working as consultant in various  major global sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup, Summer and Winter Olympics, and Paralympic Games. Sakis still hold an ongoing position as an Honorary Academic at Kent and, as of 2026, serves as a Visiting Lecturer at the International Olympic Academy in ancient Olimpia in Greece.

Over 20 years, Prof. Pappous has secured prestigious funding (British Academy, Horizon Europe, Newton Fund, IOC, ESRC, Marie Curie, PRIN-PNRR). Passionate about societal impact, he led two UK REF impact case studies.

Formerly an elite fencer for the Greek national team, Sakis embraces empathy and perspective-taking, enjoying mindfulness and swimming in his free time.
