Sakis joined University of Bologna as a Full Professor in 2022. Prior to this, he was employed during 15 consecutive years in United Kingdom (University of Kent & University of Bournemouth). In both Universities he was honoured to have important leadership roles (Head of School/Deputy Head of Department) and he also founded two research groups.
Sakis is a multilingual scholar with a strong international academic background, enriched by studies and professional experience in different countries (Greece, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Brazil). Over the past 20 years Prof. Pappous has received funding from prestigious funders (e.g. Horizon Europe, Newton Fund-British Academies, Real Madrid, IOC, ESRC). His academic work is backed up with rich professional and empirical experience. Sakis is passionate when it comes to research that has a societal impact (leader of two REF impact cases studies in the UK).
In another life, Sakis has been an elite fencing athlete competing for the national team of Greece.
Sakis embraces empathy and perspective taking. In his free time he enjoys practising mindfulness and swimming and he is always up for stroll along the beach in Rimini.
