An environmental microbiologist and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bologna, he studies how environmental change influences microbial communities and soil biogeochemical processes. His research integrates omics-based approaches, quantitative analysis, and machine learning to investigate microbial functional traits and develop predictive models of ecosystem function, with a particular interest in soil carbon cycling.
He obtained his PhD in Microbiology from the University of Tartu, Estonia, with research in environmental microbiology. He is currently working within the ERC-funded EcoMEMO project at the University of Bologna, where he investigates microbial responses to drought and precipitation variability using metagenomic and functional trait-based approaches.
