Arianna Pastorini holds a degree in Philology, Literature, and Classical Tradition from the University of Bologna and a specialization in Palaeography, Diplomatics, and Archival Studies from the Vatican School of Palaeography. She is currently a PhD candidate in Cultural Heritage in the Digital Ecosystem (39th cycle) at the University of Bologna (supervisors: Maddalena Modesti; co-supervisors: Francesca Tomasi and Anna Dorofeeva). Her doctoral project, entitled New Research Hypotheses for the Description and Analysis of Hands in Digital Environments: The Case Study of the Female Scriptorium of the Monastery of Corpus Domini in Bologna (15th–16th Centuries), focuses on developing innovative approaches to the study of scribal practices within digital frameworks.
She is a visiting PhD student at the Institute for Digital Humanities of the University of Göttingen and collaborates on the eManuSkript project (PI: Anna Dorofeeva), which aims to design and develop digital tools for teaching Palaeography.
