Dr. Antonio Maria Tardo, graduated with honors from the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences, University of Bologna, in 2018 with a thesis titled “Prognostic factors in dog diabetes mellitus”.
In 2019, he completed a “Rotating Internship” in internal medicine in companion animals at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences, University of Bologna. In 2021, he enrolled in a Residency Training Program in Internal Medicine approved by the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM-CA) under the supervision of Prof. Federico Fracassi; in the same year, he started a PhD on “Advancements in Diagnostic, Therapeutic, and Monitoring Options for Canine and Feline Diabetes Mellitus, Canine Hypoadrenocorticism, and Canine Hypercortisolism”. In 2023, he began a collaboration with MyLav Veterinary Laboratory as an expert for internal medicine. In 2025, he obtained his PhD with honors and EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist status in Small Animal Internal Medicine.
He is part of the scientific editorial board of VetJournal and Vetpedia. Member of the Italian Society of Veterinary Internal Medicine (SIMIV) and the European Society of Veterinary Endocrinology (ESVE). He undertook externships at the University of Zurich, the University of Utrecht, the University of Florida, the University of Missouri and the University of Lisbon.
He is currently working at the University of Bologna as a Research Fellow. His primary research interests include internal medicine, with a focus on small animal endocrinology. He has authored and co-authored scientific publications in national and international journals, as well as chapters in internationally distributed books.
