Degree in Medicine and Surgery on July 27, 1990 with summa cum laude at the Bologna University. After, at Bologna he was licensed to practice Medicine (State Examination, second session of 1990). He belongs to the Bologna Medical Association since January 1991. He fulfilled his military obligations through the civilian alternative service at the A.N.F.F.A.S. (National Association of Families of Abnormal Children and Adults) of Bologna from March 23, 1993 to March 22, 1994. Specialization in Child Neuropsychiatry on July 5, 1995 with summa cum laude at the Bologna University. Attending Graduate during A.Y. 1995/1996, 1996/1997, and 2000/2001 at the Child Neuropsychiatry Unit of the Institute of Clinical Neurology of the Bologna University. He became Phd in “Pathophysiology of Development and Relational Life” on February 5, 2001 (Modena and Reggio Emilia University). Then he attended the Child Neuropsychiatry Unit of the Department of Neurological Sciences of the Bologna University enjoying a scholarship from 01-07-2003 to 31-12-2004, a research grant from 01-05-2005 to 30-04-2010, and a self-employment contract with the Local Health Unit Company of Bologna from 01-01-2005 to 30-09-2010. He collaborated in the activities of the Center for Autism (Research, Diagnosis and Treatment), of the Center for Mental Retardation, Learning and Language Disorders, and of the Laboratory of Neuropsychology of Developmental Age in the Department of Neurological Sciences. From A.Y. 2003/2004 to 2009/2010 he was Adjunct Professor at the Specialization School in Child Neuropsychiatry of the Bologna University (teaching he held: Learning Disorders in the Developmental Age). Since A.Y. 2006/2007 he was Expert on the Subject “Child Neuropsychiatry” in the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery of the Bologna University. On October 1, 2010 at the Bologna University he became Assistant Professor (scientific field: Child Neuropsychiatry), afferent to the Department of Neurological Sciences. Following the reform of the University (Law 240/2010), he is afferent to the Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences. As an Assistant Professor he had the teaching of Neurolinguistics of the Degree Course in Speech and Language Therapy (Bologna University, Ravenna Pole) from A.Y. 2010/2011, which was confirmed for A.Y. 2011/2012, 2012/2013, 2013/2014, 2014/2015, 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018, 2018/2019, and 2019/2020; at the same Degree Course in Speech and Language Therapy he was assigned for the A.Y. 2020/2021 the teaching of Child Neuropsychiatry II, confirmed for A.Y. 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024. He had the teaching of Psychomotricity of the mentioned Degree Course in Speech and Language Therapy for A.Y. 2012/2013. Furthermore, he had the teaching of Laboratory of Neuropsychology of Developmental Age at the Specialization School in Child Neuropsychiatry of the Bologna University for A.Y. 2010/2011, which was confirmed to him for A.Y. 2011/2012, 2012/2013, 2013/2014, 2014/2015, and 2015/2016. At the Specialization School in Child Neuropsychiatry of the Bologna University - Headquarters: Modena - New Regulation, he had the teaching of Psychometrics for A.Y. 2015/2016, confirmed for A.Y. 2016/2017 and 2017/2018; he also had the Module 1 of Child Neuropsychiatry III - Frontal Didactics for A.Y. 2016/2017, confirmed for A.Y. 2017/2018. At the Specialization School in Child Neuropsychiatry of the Bologna University he took on the teaching of Psychometrics for the A.Y. 2018/2019, confirmed for the A.Y. 2019/2020, 2020/2021, and 2021/2022, the teaching of Laboratory of Neuropsychology 1 for the A.Y. 2018/2019, confirmed for the A.Y. 2019/2020, 2020/2021, and 2021/2022, and the teaching of Laboratory of Neuropsychology 2 for the A.Y. 2019/2020, confirmed for the A.Y 2020/2021 and 2021/2022. He was entrusted with the teaching Child Neuropsychiatry of the Single Cycle Degree Programme in Medicine and Surgery of the University of Bologna for the A.Y. 2021/2022, confirmed for the A.Y. 2022/2023 and 2023/2024. He was assigned the teaching Seminars (Module 4) at the Degree Course in Orthopaedics Techniques of the University of Bologna for the A.Y. 2023/2024. Following the assignment of these teachings he has the title of aggregate professor. Teacher in the Master "Didactics and Psychopedagogy for students with autistic disorder", A.Y. 2016/2017, at the Department of Education Studies of the University of Bologna. Teacher of the post-graduate University Course about "Childhood Apraxia of Speech", A.Y. 2017/2018, in the Ravenna Pole of the Bologna University. By early 2011 he serves on the Examination Committee of the Integrated Course of General and Specialist Paediatrics (Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery, Bologna University). He was substitute in the Examination Committee of the teaching Child Neuropsychiatry in the Degree Course in Orthoptics and Assistance in Ophthalmology; he had the same role for the teaching Neurology with Elements of Child Neuropsychiatry in the Faculty of Exercise and Sport Sciences, Bologna University. He was a member of the Examination Committee for the Integrated Course of Applied Neurosciences at the Degree Course in Speech and Language Therapy of the Bologna University and he is now a member of the Examination Committee for the Integrated Course of Neurosciences at the same Degree Course. Thesis advisor in the Degree Course in Speech and Language Therapy of the Bologna University. Commissioner in the competition for admission to Degree Courses in Health Professions of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Bologna University, for A.Y. 2012/2013, 2013/2014, 2014/2015, 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018, 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021, and 2021/2022. From A.Y. 2010/2011 to A.Y. 2014/2015 he participated in tutoring activities for the trainees of the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery: first in the Department of Neurological Sciences, after in the Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences of Bologna University. Since 18-02-2013 he is integrated as a child neuropsychiatrist at the Local Health Unit Company of Bologna, being assigned first to the Complex Operative Unit of Neurological Clinic, after to the Complex Operative Unit of Childhood Neuropsychiatry, and finally to the Operative Unit "Autism Spectrum Disorders" in the I.R.C.C.S. Institute of Neurological Sciences of Bologna. He is a member of the Italian Society of Childhood and Adolescence Neuropsychiatry (S.I.N.P.I.A.) and of the Italian League Against Epilepsy (L.I.C.E.). Until 2015 he was a member of the Association of Brain-Damaged Person Families (Fa.Ce.): he was also a member of the Scientific Committee of Fa.Ce. and in favor of this Association he periodically lectured to train volunteers. In 2003 and in 2004 he served as a tutor for the operators of Fa.Ce. during the summer holidays organized by this Association on behalf of people with disabilities. He was a student tutor in the Faculty of Education Sciences of the Bologna University. He attended conferences, meetings, workshops, training and refresher courses; in some of these circumstances he was speaker or moderator. Since 13 July 2020 he has been a member of the Editorial Board of the international journal Children. Since 9 January 2022 he has been a member of the Editorial Board of the international journal Frontiers in Neurology (Pediatric Neurology). From 1990 to now he participated in 323 scientific publications, including 82 papers published in international journals included in PubMed. H-index = 21.
