ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Medicine and Surgery obtained in Bologna with the thesis defense at the Hematology Institute "L. and A. Seragnoli": "Multiple Myeloma, platelet production after autologous bone marrow transplantation treated with immunotoxin" with a grade of 110/110.
• Specialization in General Clinical and Laboratory Hematology obtained in Bologna in 1992 at the Hematology Institute of Prof. S. Tura, defending the thesis entitled "Busulfan + Cyclophosphamide in conditioning for allogeneic bone marrow transplantation: analysis of 50 cases," with a grade of 70/70 with honors.

  TEACHING ACTIVITIES

• In the years 1994/1995, taught Immunohematology at the School for Biomedical Laboratory Technicians in Bologna.
• In 2010, taught in the Regional Training Program for Physicians responsible for blood and blood component collection.
• In 2015, provided nursing management of donors and patients in the transfusion metropolitan area within the training initiative organized directly by the Hospital Department - Department of Services of the USL Company of Bologna. Assigned X lectures on the topic "Eligibility for donation and assistance to ineligible donors".
• In 2016, from March to December, within the training initiative organized directly by the USL Company of SIMT Metropolitan Bologna "Blood Collection Center and Transfusion Medicine AOSP", assigned teaching on the management and organization of the sector exclusively for Public Administration employees.
• In 2017/2018, conducted theoretical and on-site training course for Doctors, Nurses, and Laboratory Technicians at SIMT Metropolitan Bologna, University Hospital on the topic: “Collection of apheresis blood components with Multicomponent methods”.
• In 2017/2018, participated as a lecturer in the SIMTI FAD Course "Blood and Blood Component Collection" with the topic: "Selection and care of apheresis donors".
• June 2018: Responsible for the educational project within the "School-Work Alternation" program with Malpighi High School.
• October 2019: Regional training course and acquisition of skills for the qualification of medical and nursing personnel assigned to blood and blood component collection activities.
• 2021/2022, participated as a lecturer in the SIMTI FAD Course "Blood and Blood Component Collection" with the topic: "Selection and care of apheresis donors".

  SPECIFIC PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE IN THE LAST 5 YEARS

• Selection and care activities at the "Rosalino Sacchi Blood Collection Center" for blood and blood component donors with particular attention to the safety of the entire donation process and the protection of the health of both regular and new donors.
• Implementation of new technologies for productive apheresis blood component collection, especially in the Multicomponent collection.
• Care of patients who attend the outpatient clinic of the Blood Collection Center due to hematological (polycythemias candidates for phlebotomy) and genetic (hemochromatosis and hemosiderosis) pathologies.
• Pre-conceptional counseling at the same outpatient clinic for alloimmunized women and counseling for the prevention of Neonatal and Fetal Hemolytic Disease.
• Selection for the dedicated donation of cord blood stem cells.
• Clinical eligibility for cord blood stem cell units at the Cord Blood Stem Cell and Cardiovascular Tissue Bank that is part of the same Immunohematology and Transfusion Service.
• Coordinator of the Blood Collection Center at the University Hospital of Bologna in the Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine Service, Metropolitan Area of Bologna.
• From June 2018 to July 2023, Coordinator for the Directorate of the Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine Service, Metropolitan Area of Bologna, at the University Hospital S. Orsola.
