Anna Maria Porcelli

She is Full Professor at the Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology, University of Bologna. Her research in the field of biochemistry and cellular biochemistry is focused on the role of mitochondrion and its DNA in the metabolic and hypoxic adaptation during tumor progression. She is funded by the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC), Fondazione Veronesi, the Italian Ministry of Education and the Worldwide Cancer Research, as well as by the EU. Involved in national and international research projects, she collaborates with several European and US research groups. She has been coordinator of the project TRANSMIT – Translating the role of Mitochondria in Tumorigenesis (H2020 Marie Curie), WP leader and member of the coordination team of the project MEET - Mitochondrial European Educational Training (FP7 Marie Curie). In 2006, she was awarded by L’Oreal Italia per le Donne e la Scienza. Since 2012 she is a member of CIRI - Life Sciences and Technologies for Health at University of Bologna and since 2021 is member of the Board of the Centre for Applied Biomedical Research. She is author of numerous scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
