Research project in Mozambique: the informal economy and the informalisation of governance.

 

Main interests and areas of research:

African political systems; history and politics of agriculture in Tanzania; politics of development with special reference to resource management in Mozambique; field research and collection of oral history; elections; regionalization; development education, security.

Present research activities: The crisis of the Nation state in Africa; Democracy and citizenship; Conflicts and conflict resolution in Africa with special reference to Southern Africa the Great Lakes and Congo/Zaire.

I am director of research of a multi-campus project on Poverty and citizenship in Southern Africa.

My area specialist interest is Southern Africa and particularly Mozambique
