Anna Di Ronco is Associate Professor at the Department of Legal Studies at the University of Bologna. She has a legal background and holds a PhD in criminology from Ghent University (Belgium). Before her appointment at the University of Bologna, she worked at the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University of Essex where she was also Director of its Centre for Criminology. Anna is still affiliated with the University of Essex having been awarded the title of Honorary Senior Lecturer.
Anna serves as an at-large Board Member of the European Society of Criminology (ESC) and as an Associate Editor of the European Journal of Criminology (EJC). She has also served on the Editorial Board of the British Journal of Criminology.
Her main research lines include the governance of public space and the criminalisation of dissent and activism, with a particular focus on environmental activism. Her work is situated within a sociologically oriented criminological framework and draws primarily on perspectives from critical criminology and green criminology.
