Collaborations

Collaboration with:
KIK-IRPA Royal Institute of Cultural Heritage
Country:
Belgium
Description:
SAFE-CH (2026-2027) addresses a critical gap by developing a structured, adaptable methodology for the planning and management of emergency storage facilities designed to safeguard heritage collections. This initiative builds upon KIK-IRPA’s established disaster risk management research—including projects such as CHrisis, FEDERESCUE, Rampenstrategie, and Athena—while integrating insights from studies on climate management and building thermo-hygrometrics (Climate2Preserv, REFRESH). In light of increasing geopolitical tensions, this project aligns with EU and national priorities regarding cultural heritage protection. By providing a framework for emergency storage, SAFE-CH will support Federal Scientific Institutions (FSIs) and Cultural Heritage Institutions (CHIs) in Belgium and abroad, enhancing overall disaster preparedness.
