Anita Lavorgna is Associate Professor in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Bologna, where she teaches Sociology and Cybercrime.
After her PhD at the University of Trento, Dr Lavorgna spent most of her academic career in the UK, where she was Associate Professor of Criminology at the University of Southampton (until 2022).
Dr Lavorgna's research pivots around cybercrimes, digital social harms and information pollution, and is mostly based on interdisciplinary approaches. Throughout her career, Dr Lavorgna has led several research projects, and held editorial roles. In 2021 she was awarded the Early Career Award by the European Society of Criminology.
