Angelo Varni, full professor of contemporary history, was
born in Sasso Marconi (Bologna, 10/9/1944).
He teaches History of the Journalism and History of the
Risorgimento at the Faculty of Humanities, University of
Bologna.
He is:
- Director of the Center for Labour History in Imola;
- Director of the School of Journalism in Bologna;
- President of the National Center of napoleonic studies;
- Director of the “Rivista di studi napoleonici”;
- President of the Institute for the History of Bologna;
- Director of the on line journal "Storia e Futuro"
(www.storiaefuturo.com);
He is responsible for cultural activities of the Fondazione del
Monte di Bologna and Ravenna and President of the Scientific
commitee of the Bononia University Press.
He studies in particular the history of 19th and 20th century
Italian society and has written many essays on political
association, financial institutions, political parties and trades
unions.
In the last years he has done new reasearches on labour, social and
industrial history.
