Andrea Serrani received the Laurea (B.Eng.) degree in Electrical Engineering, summa cum laude, from the University of Ancona, Italy, in 1993, and the Ph.D. degree from the same institution in 1997. From 1994 to 1999, he was a Fulbright Fellow at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, where he obtained the M.S. and D.Sc. degrees in Systems Science and Mathematics in 1996 and 2000, respectively. From 2002 to 2024, he has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The Ohio State University. He is now a Full Professor at the University of Bologna, Italy.
Prof. Serrani's research lies at the intersection of theoretical aspects of nonlinear, adaptive and geometric control with applications in aerospace and marine systems, robotics and automotive engineering. He has authored or co-authored one book and more than 150 articles in journals, proceedings of international conferences and book chapters. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology. Currently, he serves as Vice President for Publications of the IEEE Control Systems Society and as a member of the IEEE CSS Board of Governors.
