Adjunct Professor at the University of Bologna from 2019, he carries out his research in the field of Artificial Intelligence applied to Telecommunications. The research interests are focused in particular on the Development of Machine Learning Algorithms applied to Wireless Communications.
Graduated in Electronic Engineering in 1996 at the University of Rome - Tor Vergata, he obtained a PhD in Telecommunications, in 1999 at the Politecnico of Torino.
Since January 2017 he has become an Adjunct Professor at the University of the People - Pasadena, California and teaches various courses for the Computer Science Department.
Since June 2001 he is Head of the In Building Radio Propagation Modeling Group in the Radio Access Engineering Department at Vodafone Group plc. in the development of indoor propagation models for 5G, Massive MIMO and mmWave.
He is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Lab of Network Programming for the BS's and MS's Degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Bologna and for Programming Fundamentals, Programming II and Data Mining & Machine Learning at the University of the People.
In the period 1997-2001 he is Radio Frequency Engineer at the Radio Frequency department at OMNITEL PRONTO ITALIA SPA.
He has participated in numerous national and international research programs including: EU Research Project 5GPPP (mmWave and 5G-Xhaul). It collaborates with the High Performance Networks (HPN) group of Bristol in areas such as Software Defined Networks (SDN) and heterogeneous wireless infrastructures for smart cities. He works on the design of adaptive low-power modems for Internet of Thing (IoT) applications. Other research objectives concern the new generation Wi-Fi systems (MIMO 4x4 multiuser) and the wireless multicast delivery of multichannel videos to Wi-Fi clients in public spaces, wireless automotive projects, such as VENTURER (one of the three projects licensed by the United Kingdom for the development of autonomous vehicles). He works closely with the Visual Information Laboratory, with which he has co-developed a range of robust wireless video transmission techniques applied to the automotive environment, robotics and IoT based on Genetic Algorithms. Other research areas include new packaging algorithms and link adaptation to new ways to encode and transmit video together on MIMO channels.
He is a member of the IEEE APS / SC study group on numerical models of computational electromagnetism for antenna modeling and simulation - in collaboration with Professor Monebhurrun of SUPELEC.
In 2015 he is a Technical Consultant for the definition of the elements characterizing a mesh network in a public environment and related routing protocols.
Referee of international and Italian magazines in the Information Technology sector.
Since 2017 he is Guest Editor of the ICT EXPRESS ELSEVIER
