Structural engineering

Possible theses concern reinforced concrete, steel or timber structures of current importance.

The thesis require the elaboration of reports and drawings of the carried out computations.

The required time involvement is approximately three months.

Design of foundations

The proposed theses concern soil - structure interaction in the settlement and stress evaluation of strengthening interventions for historical structures and monuments.

Structural strengthening and rehabilitation

Several thesis themes are open for possible candidates with reference to damage assessment and design of strengthening interventions.

Typical application involve:

- brick and stone masonry structures

- FRP and FRM reinforcement

- bridge damage and health monitoring

- timber structures and timber assessment

- fire dynamics and fire damage

- corrosion in reinforced concrete

All the theses are defined with the cadidate. The required time for the thesis completion is approximately six months.
