Curriculum vitae

Prof. Andrea ACQUAVIVA (PhD) is Full Professor of Computer Engineering at University of Bologna. He received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2003 and in Complex Systems for Life Science in 2018. He was research intern at HP Labs Palo Alto, CA, USA (2001-2003) and visiting researcher at LSI lab, EPFL, CH (2007-2008). He has been coordinator and co-coordinator of several research projects at European and National level in the field of embedded software, IoT and smart city/energy/buildings. He has been in the scientific board of the Energy Center (http://www.energycenter.polito.it/) for application of informatics to the energy domain. He has been scientific consultant and responsible of various industrial-academic partnerships for the exploitation of IoT and technology transfer in energy and manufacturing (among them FCA, TIM, EDISON, IREN).

Research interests of Prof. Andrea Acquaviva focus mainly on: i) compilers, operating systems and toolchains for heterogenous embedded platforms, multicore architectures, Internet-of-Things (IoT), Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS); ii) Code generation optimization using AI techniques; iii) IoT and CPS applications to smart cities and smart energy. He also carries on research on computational aspects of complex biological systems, in particular brain-inspired computing, neuromorphic systems and bioinformatics.

He taught courses in IoT, embedded systems, Systems-on-Chip and he currently holds the course of Foundation of Computer Programming for Mechatronics, Automation and Electrical Engineering at University of Bologna.

Researches by Prof. Andrea Acquaviva (between 2000 and 2020) yielded more than 250 papers in international journals and peer-reviewed international conference proceedings.
