Adjunct Professor at the University of Bologna, he conducts his research in the field of architectural theory. His research interests are focused in particular on the study of forms of architectural production. He currently centers his research on the theme of digital transformation as a productive, spatial, and cognitive transformation.
Education
He graduated in Building Engineering-Architecture in 2008 from the University of Bologna, and obtained his PhD in Architecture from Delft University of Technology in 2014.
Academic Career
He held several adjunct teaching positions at the Berlage Institute (2012–2013), Delft University of Technology (2013–2014), and the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture (2013–2016). He was a research fellow in the Department of Architecture at the University of Bologna from 2017 to 2020. From 2020 to 2023 he was Assistant Professor at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (Suzhou, People's Republic of China). Since 2023 he has been Adjunct Professor at the University of Bologna.
Teaching Activity
Since 2013 he has continuously carried out teaching activities as course holder and tutor for various courses and design studios. He currently teaches Analysis of the Built Environment in the Master's Degree programme in Advanced Design of Services.
Research Activity
He has held several research grants under the Creative Industries programme of the Dutch Ministry of Culture. Since 2018 he has participated in the Horizon 2020 ROCK project (Horizon 2020, 2018). He serves as a referee for Italian and international journals in the fields of architecture and design.
Membership of Scientific and Editorial Boards
Since 2023 he has been a member of the editorial board of Technoetic Arts: A Journal of Speculative Research. Since 2022 he has been International Editor of The Journal of Architecture. From 2017 to 2020 he was Managing Editor of the European Journal of Creative Practices in Cities and Landscapes, and since 2020 has been a member of its editorial board.
Awards and Recognition
First prize for the project "xxxxxx02, or, the Frozen Leviathan", Gulf Architecture Biennial (2014), with Matteo Mannini. Honorary mention, Bab al Bahrain Competition, Manama, for the project "xxxxxx01, or, the Gentle Monster" (2012).
Other Activities
Since 2023 he has been an officer at ARPAC-Alma DL, responsible for research data archiving and open access to publications. From 2023 to 2024 he was an architect officer at the Ministry of Culture, Gallerie Estensi, Modena.
