Born in Istanbul, Alper Metin studied Architecture at IUAV University of Venice and Roma Tre University. In 2022, he obtained his Ph.D. with honors in Architectural History at Sapienza University of Rome, with a dissertation titled “The renewal of the 18th-century Ottoman Architecture via cross-cultural interactions with Italy and France”. In 2020 and 2021, he conducted two research projects at Istanbul Technical University. His main scholarly interests regard the diffusion of Baroque architecture and the cross-cultural exchanges between different Mediterranean civilizations, a subject on which he organized an international conference in 2021. He participated in numerous international conferences and symposia and his publications appeared in Italian, French, English and Spanish. He currently holds a postdoctoral research position at the Department of the Arts of the University of Bologna.
