My scientific interests have always been related to the use of molecular markers and NGS technologies (i.e., RNA-seq) to investigate the molecular taxonomy, conservation genetics and evolution of cartilaginous fish. The main subjects of my PhD and postdoc research are the evolutionary mechanisms underpinning the phenotype-genotype relationship in skates. At the same time, I have also strong interest in the use of molecular techniques for food traceability, being involved in EU-funded projects focussing on the management of fishery resources and the innovation of fishery supply chain. The latter topic will be developed as a main research line at University of Bologna.
