Curriculum vitae

Alessandro Pomelli is assistant professor of Business law at the School of Economics of the University of Bologna, where he teaches Commercial law and Law and Practice of Financial Transactions.

After graduating with honors from the University of Bologna Faculty of Law in 2000, he earned a Ph.D. degree in corporate law from Bocconi University in 2004 and an LL.M. degree from Columbia University School of Law in 2006 together with the academic title of Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He also teaches Concepts and Methods of Law and Economics on the European Master of Law and Economics (EMLE) as well as European Securities and Company Law on the European Doctorate of Law and Economics (EDLE). Moreover, he holds the course in European private law on the Master of European and International Law at the China-EU School of Law in Beijing. In the past he taught International Mergers and Acquisitions on the Loyola Law School and University of Bologna international LL.M. program.

Author of numerous articles on corporate and takeover laws, securities regulation, antitrust law published in Italian and international law reviews, his main field of interest is the law & economics and law and finance of corporations and capital markets.

He is a member of the editorial board of the Italian law reviews “Giurisprudenza Commerciale”, "Banca Borsa Titoli di credito" and “RDS-Rivista di Diritto Societario Interno, Internazionale, Comunitario e Comparato”.

He is a member of the Italian Bar and the New York Bar and was of counsel to the EU-appointed Monitoring Trustee for the airline company Alitalia.  

In 2016 he was appointed expert for the European Parliament in company law.

Positions held with the University of Bologna

Delegate for the internationalization of the Department of Sociology and Business Law.
