Academic discipline: ARTE-01/B History of Modern Art

Short Bio

Degree in Literature and Philosophy and Specialization in History of Medieval and Modern art at University of Studies of Rome La Sapienza. PHD in History of Art at University Autónoma of Barcelona. Studies of Alessandra Anselmi are characterized by an interdisciplinary approach, paying attention to the concrete and material development of patrons and works of art in historical contexts, precise or specifiable. Her researches and publications are related to baroque Rome, Spanish patronage in Rome and Calabria during XVII and XVIII centuries; paintings and engravings with magic and witchcraft subjects;  art, culture and politics in Havana during the first half of XX century (till 1959). Objects of study are also the Modern Movement, International Style, the "not places" and junk space in contemporary cities. Specialized in Modern art, contemporary Art has always been part of my interests, because the attention to the present, as taught by Giulio Carlo Argan and his scholars, is essential in researching and teaching.
